My name is Stephanie. I make a mean cheese platter, am always searching for natural wine, and can't stay in one place for more than a few weeks. I have been running Décanteur Media, a consulting business for clients in the food, wine & spirits space, since 2016. Considering the Oyster was born out of years of writing, thinking, and talking about food. The name comes from M.F.K. Fisher's 1941 work, "Consider the Oyster," a cookbook that was so much more than a collection of recipes. Her work paved the way for the modern food industry as it is today: a place full of storytelling, community and connection over food. Because we don't just eat to live - we eat to celebrate, to commemorate, to comfort, to connect. This is a place that documents the litany of meanings, large and small, that blossom from the simple act of cultivating, preparing, and enjoying food, from the unique perspective of a Northern California native living in the mountains of rural Virginia - and traveling far & wide for new edible experiences.
